"Routing Number"

A routing transit number is a nine-digit code which appears at the bottom of a check to identify the financial institution on which it was drawn. The numbers at the bottom of your checks include this routing number, your account number, and the check number. Only the check number will be different on each one of your checks for a particular account. It's important to know the routing number when doing electronic transactions.
